The beginning of the summer exhibition season of the Piran Coastal Galleries was marked by new exhibitions and other cultural events in Ankaran, Koper, Piran and Portorose. We invite you to take a look at them. During the summer, all exhibition spaces are open in the evenings.
Piran Civic Gallery
The thematic group exhibition For Your Pleasure: Feminist Positions in Visual Art in and from Slovenia (selection) is on view until August 18. The exhibition is dedicated to artistic production that deals with social construction of gender and the resulting discrimination, sexism and inequality of women, whereby discrimination manifests itself at the intersection of gender and other categories and circumstances, for example social class, work, race, nationality, gender identity and age. Monfort Gallery, Portorose
In the Portorose exhibition space, Brad Downey’s spatial installation entitled I Am You, You Are me is on display. The author plays with aproportionist approaches in fine art in such a way that he includes artists in his own productions who, in his opinion, are key to the understanding and development of modernity. Loža Gallery, Koper
The Loža Gallery in Koper invites you to a cabinet of wonders, where the extensive and varied oeuvre of Marko Brecelj is exhibited. The rich legacy of the well-known Koper musician, performer and activist is presented with a unique spatial installation entitled The Lodging of the Unreconciled. The exhibition, which will be on view until September 15, is accompanied by various interesting events. We would like to highlight guided tours and screenings, which will be held every Friday in the month of July, from 8 to 9 p.m.

Memorial Park, Ankaran
The Piran Coastal Galleries recently presented the Municipality of Ankaran with a sculpture called Social Platform / Družbena ploščad, which was created by Slovenian artist Ištvan Išt Huzjan at last year’s international symposium Forma viva Portorose. By placing the sculpture in a public space, all passers-by are invited to come into direct contact with art, which can be experienced in a completely different way in an attractive natural environment.

Herman Pečarič Gallery, Piran
As part of the ArtLab Meduza project, an exhibition by Vasko Vidmar from Piran entitled You Are the Forest is on view on the ground floor of the gallery until July 21. Free creative workshops for children guided by Vasko Vidmar and painter Gani Llalloshi will be held in the creative corner of the gallery in July.

Ex-tempore Piran 2024
For the end of the summer, we also announce the traditional painting Ex-tempore Piran, intended for all artists and art lovers, as part of which various accompanying activities will take place. This year, Ex-tempore Piran 2024 will be concluded by the award ceremony on Tartini Square and the opening of exhibitions at the Piran City Gallery and the Monfort Gallery in Portorose.
