Piran Coastal Galleries are happy to announce an extensive photography exhibition of the renowned and established Istrian artist Jake Jeraša (Ljubljana, 1953) from the 18th of December 2020 to the 14th of February 2021. The exhibition will be on display in the three central exhibition halls of Piran Coastal Galleries. It will show a selection of more than 100 photographs of various formats from almost 50 years of operation, which will be properly documented in a multilingual monographic publication.
Jeraš's series – as the artist himself points out – are never specifically named. According to the curator of the exhibition Nives Marvin, Jeraš's works immediately recognize “a superior mastery of the craft skills of the chosen medium", which of course also offers the viewer “opportunities for new stories and interpretations defined by their own intimate mental and spiritual state. His starting point is the Istrian landscape and its urban ambiences, as well as the human figure, especially the female nude, as portrait and self-portrait, which are also the common thread of this large overview exhibition.
