SUMMER MUSEUM NIGHT 2024

A conversation with Jasna Podreka, Ph.D., sociologist and assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana

Piran Civic Gallery

Saturday, 15 June 2024 at 6 p.m.

During the duration of the thematic group exhibition For Your Pleasure, various accompanying events – guided tours, thematic workshops and talks – will take place for different target audiences.

The first conversation will take place on the day of SUMMER MUSEUM NIGHT already on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 6 p.m. We will host Jasna Podreka, Ph.D., a sociologist and assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, who focuses her scientific research on the dark side of our society, namely on the violence against women. In 2017, she published a scientific monograph on intimate partner murders of women in Slovenia, in which she investigated a large number of court hearings of domestic violence that ended with the murder of the female partner. The topics explored by Podreka, which are directly related to one of the exhibited works in the group exhibition For Your Pleasure (by Tanja Lažetić) and in general to the processes of discrimination against women in our society, the rise of new misogyny and the new post-patriarchal morality, will be discussed by Mara Ambrožič Verderber, director of Piran Coastal Galleries.
