Civic Gallery, Piran |

5th of September 2020 – 18th of October 2020

Ex-tempore Piran is one of the most important art events in Slovenian Istria. It is renowned for the competitiveness of the contest and for its long tradition, as it has been enriching the cultural offer of the territory for more than fifty years. It is attended by mid-career artists, young artists, and amateurs fond of painting, who come from Slovenia and from other countries all over Europe.

This year, the 55th International Painting Ex-tempore continues its tradition despite the particular conditions of this edition (related to Covid-19). The international committee is formed by expert members: Ketrin Miličević Mijošek (HR), dr. Aurora Fonda (I), dr. Petja Grafenauer (Sl) and secretary Tatjana Sirk will select the best paintings for the exhibition and assign several different prizes, including the prestigious grand prix worth 2,000 euros. Special emphasis should be placed on the sympathy of loyal collectors, who, despite the aforementioned situation, showed their support this year as well.

The award ceremony will take place at the end of the cultural program, on Saturday, 5 September 2020, at 8.30 pm in the Piran Civic Gallery. Due to the health protocols, only a limited number of invited guests will participate (members of the international expert jury, winners and collectors), so the event will be broadcasted live for the first time on the Facebook page of PIRAN COASTAL GALLERIES.

The final event, directed by Igor Jelena – Iggy, will be led by Iztok Gustinčič, and will feature the Feguš String Quartet (Jernej Feguš, Andrej Feguš, Simon Peter Feguš, Filip Feguš) and dancer Eva Jankovich (IGEN Celje House of Art). Many events that are part of the historic tradition of this occurrence will be cancelled; nevertheless,  we have tried to preserve the events dedicated to children and our youngest visitors (ex-tempore for children and students in Tartini Square, art workshop for textile painting Sea Fairy Tale and art workshop for body painting Tatoo4you).
