During the summer months, illustrator Tinka Leskovšek (1982, Koper), now residing in Venice, will present her work in Piran. She studied Art Pedagogy in Ljubljana and has actively collaborated with the Koper Theatre as a set designer for several years. Her early illustrations accompanied children’s books from the Center for Communication, Hearing, and Speech in Portorož. In recent years, with meticulous precision and the use of fine brushes, she paints animals and plants. Her work is diverse, and the illustrations cater to both children and adults.

During the exhibition, a series of Saturday Creative workshops ArtLab Meduza will be organized for local art enthusiasts and beyond: https://www.obalne-galerije.si/en/artlab-meduza-2025-pedagogical-and-andragogical-workshops/

Biography

Tinka Leskovšek (1982 Koper) studied Art Pedagogy in Ljubljana. The Portorož native, who currently lives in Venice, had been actively involved with the Koper Theatre for many years, where she mainly worked on scenography. Now she mostly illustrates children's books and dresses animals in sweaters.

Working in theatre, she spent some time in the field of scenic arts in Portugal, Spain and most recently in Italy, but she always returns to the coasts of Istria and Dalmatia.

She had worked in theatre for several years, and with her first illustrations she furnished the first picture books of the Golden Fish collection of the Portorož Centre for Communication, Hearing and Speech. With filigree precision and the thinnest brush, she has been painting and exhibiting a wide variety of animals in recent years, which she jokes about dressing up in her free time.
