Piran Coastal Galleries  receive recognition from the Ministry of Culture

Yesterday, 4 March 2026, a solemn moment took place at the Piran Civic Gallery: the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Asta Vrečko, presented the Piran Coastal Galleries with a recognition and expression of gratitude for their exceptional contribution to the development and promotion of contemporary visual art over the past five decades.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, the recognition was presented to the director of the Piran Coastal Galleries, Mara Ambrožič Verderber. The Minister praised the long-standing and systematic stewardship of artistic heritage, the lasting integration of the coastal region into the European and international cultural context, and the strengthening of intercultural dialogue, which in recent years has continued and evolved on the foundations laid half a century ago by the Biloslav–Medved duo.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the founding municipality, the Municipality of Piran, including Deputy Mayor Manuela Rojec, other distinguished guests, and visitors. The Minister also paid tribute to former artistic director Andrej Medved by signing the book of remembrance.
