The informality of contemporary cities is a fact that devotes the space of the city to investor making money urbanism and leaving the purposes of its inhabitants behind. With the absence of experts in the field of spatial planning, instead of them, investors are dedicated to the design of urban content, who do not take into account the criteria of the city, content connections and the needs of users. Because of this, chaotic and inadequate relationships are formed, such as the construction of residential neighbourhoods in the area of shopping centres, with the absence of green areas, schools and kindergartens. Instead, buildings are being built next to oversized shopping structures and gas stations. The immense absurdity of the modern way of life recalls Saramago's apocalyptic vision of the development of a city affected by an epidemic of white blindness and sparing no one. His novel Blindness tells the story of a plague that affects the city and the encounters between the inhabitants become increasingly frightening. How will we live together when public spaces are sold out? The story is a parable of the fear of the unknown, is it war, isolation or just the fear of closeness to one's fellow man? The actor raises the question of whether they have always been blind and continues that they are “blind people who, although they see, do not see". The questions of whether it is necessary to know why they are blind and how to overcome this blindness begin to be encountered more and more often.
The K67 kiosk, designed by Saša Mächtig in 1967, concludes its story with the temporary use of Ukmarjev Square in Koper. In the kiosk K67, which is owned by the Coastal Galleries of Piran, various creators have designed new substantive starting points for changing the current parking lot on the square into a green community space. From spring to late autumn 2023, a process of tactical and performative urbanism took place here. Artistic performances and other activities at the location helped to create an inclusive public space for different users. In cooperation with the Coastal Galleries of Piran, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy, City Municipality of Koper – Office for Social Activities, University of Primorska, Faculty of Pedagogy, Department of Visual Arts and Architecture, Avtomatik Delovišče, KUD C3, Independent Coastal Radio NOR, Radio Rojc, Prostor štiva, BURRA and Association of Architects of Istra DAI SAI, the kiosk will be the venue for a variety of events during The Month of space and the presentation at the Cultural Bazaar. The program, live or with new productions, will be broadcast on the Independent Coastal Radio NOR, which will also include the radio show Prostor ŠTIVA, produced by the BURRA production company, in its comprehensive story. The latter is regularly broadcast on Radio Rojc from Pula. Kiosk K67 is transformed into a safe and inclusive space of communication through memories from the past with new urban acupuncture points.
The closing event in K67 is dedicated to the writer and journalist Martin Reichert.
