The last month of autumn in the Piran Coastal Galleries is also marked by a traditional international event. After the successful 60th anniversary celebration of Forma viva, the Piran meeting of architects, which has one of the longest traditions in the world, is approaching.

The 38th PIRAN DAYS OF ARCHITECTURE (GPA) will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021. The international architecture conference, where world-renowned architects will speak, will begin at 10.00 in the Auditorium, Portorož. The purpose of the conference, which with the exception of the last editions has been held in Piran since 1983, is to enhance current architectural guidelines and present the most innovative architectural projects. Piran Days of Architecture present architects who, respecting the geographical and cultural context, preserve identity and cultural diversity. The event is under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.
At this year’s conference, participants will ask what is measurable in architecture.
“How do we measure the path to architecture that evokes emotions, binds us in a community, and builds our identity? How do we measure whether architecture is sincere and fair? Is architecture created by our ancestors still to our standards? Where are the limits and the purpose of measurability in architecture? Is architecture that meets all measures and criteria already considered to be of high quality?”architect Mitja Zorc wrote about this year’s theme. More information can be found on this page.
As part of the GPAs, the PIRANESI INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARD is awarded to the best architectural achievements of the past two years in the Central European area. The award will be presented at the solemn opening of the Piranesi exhibition at Monfort in Portorož, on Saturday, November 27, at 20.00.
