GRAND PRIX
SUZANA BRBOROVIĆ (Slovenia)
GRAND PRIX
The highest purchase prize of 4.000 euros, is also awarded by the PIRAN COASTAL GALLERIES. Grand Prix of the 60th International Painting Ex-tempore Piran 2025 was awarded to SUZANA BRBOROVIĆ (Slovenia) for the painting entitled »Odsev prihodnosti in Durerejevo telo«.
Explanation:
A work of art in the contemporary moment must raise questions rather than offer immediate, unambiguous meanings, as otherwise it risks falling into mere illustration. The title is organically intertwined with the work of art, which is conceived in multiple layers; these overlap and invite the viewer to search for interpretations and connections with the title itself. Through her reflection on the future, the artist seeks to bridge the relevance of today’s world with the complexity of the future that lies ahead. Much like Albrecht Dürer, who in his painting combined geometric, mathematical, and aesthetic approaches, this work, too, reveals an interweaving of different dimensions that generate a rich and multidimensional visual experience.

YOUNG AUTHOR PRIZE
JULIJA BRAJNIK VOLČIČ (Slovenia)
YOUNG AUTHOR PRIZE
Purchase prize for the best work by an author under the age of 35 is awarded by the PIRAN COASTAL GALLERIES. The prize, which is in the form of a solo exhibition at the Herman Pečarič Gallery in Piran, was awarded to JULIJA BRAJNIK VOLČIČ (Slovenia) for the painting entitled »Nemočna«.
Explanation:
In the times we live in, clear directions are no longer present, and contradictions arise, where things once considered safe are now being questioned. The symbol of this fear and uncertainty is depicted in the foreground with two dogs tied to a streetlight, watching the viewer intently. In this way, the viewer is placed in the position of a potential prey. Confinement and helplessness are also vividly expressed through the contrast with the background, which shows everyday routine alongside the primal danger that silently lurks over us.

SPECIAL PRIZE TARTINI 2025
KARIN KOCIČ (Slovenia)
SPECIAL PRIZE TARTINI 2025
The Special Prize Tartini 2025 is awarded by the CAN PIRAN and the association COMMUNITY OF ITALIANS GIUSEPPE TARTINI PIRAN in the form of a solo exhibition at the Tartini House in Piran. This year, it was awarded to KARIN KOCIČ (Slovenia) for the painting entitled »Sledi otroštva v pesku«.
Explanation:
Childhood is a period that leaves traces as the foundation for an individual’s development in later stages of life. The childhood depicted in the painting is changing, dehumanized, and the figures of the children sit on the sand in an environment where they are expected to be. Yet in their bodies and faces there is no lightness of play, but rather a sense of emptiness and silent estrangement. A space that should convey warmth and safety is transformed into a scene of uncertainty, where coldness is present. Expressionlessness can also be interpreted as the condition of the future generation of children. The image thus raises the question of how today’s world shapes childhood and the values we pass on. In this context, the artistic interpretation becomes both a warning and an invitation to reflect on society’s responsibility toward growing up.
