The coastal galleries of Piran participate in the project <\/span>In memory of the great<\/i>, which was created by the<\/span>YouSea Institute<\/i>, the institute for the preservation of marine biodiversity (in cooperation with \u010caj za 2, the Association of Ceramicists and Potters of Slovenia, the Association of Art coastal Pedagogue sand Du\u0161an Erjavec – art designer).<\/span><\/p>\n

In the process of realizing its idea of \u200b\u200bcombining art and science in projects with the aim of preserving the marine ecosystem and nature, the<\/span>YouSea Institute <\/span><\/i>collaborated with artists and others who work with art. It can be an exceptional tool for communicating nature conservation topics, as it touches the audience on an emotional level and connects them more deeply with the environment and nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the<\/span>YouSea Institute<\/span><\/i>, Coastal galleries are preparing an exhibition of unique interpretations of the large fan mussels (Noble pen shell), which will be created from natural materials by artists from various art societies. The models will first, at the exhibition on land, raise awareness of the loss of the important ecological function that the shell provided in the environment and promote understanding of the importance of preserving marine ecosystems. The exhibition of works of art will be on display in the Monfort Portoro\u017e Gallery from 20 January to 16 February 2025. The official opening will take place on Monday, 27 January, 2025. After the exhibition closes, the works will be dropped into the sea and placed in the area of \u200b\u200bthe Piran Sea Oasis. There they will eventually become a habitat for marine organisms and part of the first underwater gallery in Slovenia.<\/span><\/p>\n
