{"id":22200,"date":"2024-09-09T11:31:27","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T09:31:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.obalne-galerije.si\/?p=22200"},"modified":"2024-09-20T11:00:54","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T09:00:54","slug":"september-october-program-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.obalne-galerije.si\/en\/september-october-program-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"SEPTEMBER &#038; OCTOBER PROGRAM 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The traditional Ex-tempore Piran, which takes place every year towards the end of summer, also symbolically heralds the start of the autumn program in the Piran Coastal Galleries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Lo\u017ea Gallery, Koper<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The personal exhibition of paintings by the Maribor artist <\/span><b>Borut Popenko<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> titled <\/span><b>Openings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which will be opened on <\/span><b>September 27, 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is an exchange exhibition for this year&#8217;s January presentation of the works of the Slovene Littoral artist Lara Marconi Jeranko in the premises of the Maribor Art Gallery (UGM). Since the beginning, Popenko has been interested in the basic elements of painting that arise from empty space, from the materiality of the painting medium to the formation of the painting field. In his exploration of colors and shapes, proportions, compositions, volumes and harmonies, he refers to the abstract painting tradition, from abstract expressionism, color field painting, geometric abstraction to monochrome painting and minimalism. Among his role models, he cites giants of abstract art such as Mark Rothko, Josef Albers, Morris Louis, Ellsworth Kelly, and contemporaries Anish Kapoor, Peter Halley and Gerwald Rockenschaub.<br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.obalne-galerije.si\/en\/borut-popenko-openings\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More at the link&#8230;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Piran Civic Gallery and Monfort Wooden Hall, Portorose<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Piran Civic Gallery, two content-related exhibitions are on view until 17 November 2024: <\/span><b>Ex-tempore 10, prize-winning works from the Piran Coastal Galleries\u2019 2014-2024 collections<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Ex-tempore Piran 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, prize-winning works from this year&#8217;s edition. Until September 29, 2024, selected works of <\/span><b>Ex-tempore Piran 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and children&#8217;s creations <\/span><b>Ex-tempore Muza Meduza 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are on display in the Monfort Wooden Hall in Portorose.<br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.obalne-galerije.si\/en\/exhibitions-of-the-ex-tempore-piran-2024\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More at the link&#8230;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Andragogical program<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Room: Openly dialogues between artists and critics<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As part of the exhibition <em>Ex-tempore 10<\/em>, <em>award-winning works from the OGP&#8217;s collections 2014-2024<\/em>, which accompanies this year&#8217;s ex-tempore, we will organize <strong>informal conversations about contemporary visual art with experts and artists<\/strong>. Meetings between various actors working in the art field aim to bring contemporary art closer to a wider audience, especially from the point of view of creators and art connoisseurs. The talks will take place in the <strong>Piran City Gallery on Saturday, October 19 and Saturday, November 9, from 10:00 to 12:00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At the first meeting, Tina Forti\u010d Jakopi\u010d, art historian and curator of the art collection at the Museum of Recent and Contemporary History of Slovenia, and Ulla \u017dibert, visual artist and recipient of the ex-tempore 2017 grand prize, will be with us.<\/p>\n<p>At the second meeting we will hear Miran Mohar, painter, graphic designer, scenographer, member of the Irwin group and co-founder of the collective Neue Slowenische Kunst, the theater of the Scipinon Nasice sisters and the design group Novi kolektivizem, and Tina Konec, visual artist and winner of the 2018 Ex-tempore.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Pedagogical program<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In conjunction with the EX-TEMPORE 10, prize-winning works from the Piran Coastal Galleries&#8217; 2014<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2024 collection exhibition, we will organize <\/span><b>pedagogical workshops for school groups and young individuals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. While viewing and closely observing the prize-winning works from the collection of the Piran Coastal Galleries, youngsters will be able to interpret and recreate the exhibited painting of their choice in their own way. The prize is in the form of a solo exhibition at the Herman Pe\u010dari\u010d Gallery in Piran. The series of documentary photographs <\/span><b>Slovenia: A Symphony of Views<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for which the Koper-born author received numerous recognitions and awards, was previously on display at Ljubljana Castle. The Piran Coastal Galleries are preparing the exhibition in cooperation with the National Geographic Slovenia. These are excellent examples of documentary photographs that show the beauty of Slovenia and particularly its Littoral region with various landscape motifs. Insurgent Futurities<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the initiative of the Piran Coastal Galleries, <\/span><b>the exhibition Dissident Histories.Insurgent Futurities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be on view at <\/span><b>the Gallery of the City of Gdansk in Poland from October 8, 2024 to December 15, 2024. Insurgent Futurities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It represents the 40-years of the artistic duo <\/span><b>Marina Gr\u017eini\u0107<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Aina \u0160mid<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s creative work. The pioneers of political video began their collaboration in 1982 and have left a deep artistic and political mark in the former Yugoslavia, Slovenia and abroad. The exhibition of internationally recognized female artists is upgraded by a new project by authors <\/span><b>Marina Gr\u017eini\u0107, Tja\u0161a Kancler<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Jovita Pristov\u0161ek<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who started working together in the new millennium. The project is not only a retrospective reflection, it is a path to the future that foresees the continuation of political discourse and visual storytelling through the popular digital medium of video film. The exhibition is prepared by the curator <\/span><b>\u0141ukas Guzek<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Academy of Fine Arts in Gda\u0144sk) in cooperation with the director of the Piran Coastal Galleries <\/span><b>Mara Ambro\u017ei\u010d Verderber<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The exhibition concept, design and layout are contributed by Marina Gr\u017eini\u0107 and Jovita Pristov\u0161ek. The PCG applied to the international call for new works of art with the project <\/span><b>Breaking The Circuit of Control<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the Italian visual artist <\/span><b>Francesco Bertocco<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. As the project holder, PCG invited prominent international partners to participate: the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto (MART) from Italy, the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo from Brazil, the University of Paris 8 from France, the Center for Contemporary Art NITJA from Norway, the Foundation ICA from Milan and the City of Gdansk in Poland.
