At LVII. International Painting Ex-tempore 227 participants applied and 194 works of art were submitted. The jury selected 81 works of art for the exhibition, which is set up in the Piran City Gallery and in the Monfort Gallery in Portoro\u017e.<\/p>\n

Piran Coastal Galleries Awards<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n

\nSPECIAL PRIZE CESARE DELL’ACQUA<\/strong><\/p>\n

The special prize Cesare Dell’Acqua, supported by the Municipality of Koper, was awarded to MLADEN STROPNIK <\/strong>(Slovenia) for the work titled White Cloud<\/strong>. The award in the form of a solo exhibition in the Coastal Galleries of Piran will be organized in the 2023 program year.<\/p>\n

Explanation<\/b>:
Precision and imprecision, centrality and decentralization, surface and volume. A work that stands before the viewer’s gaze as if it would be a spatial installation. Minimalist and conceptual, but not in the sense of quotation and remarks, Mladen Stropnik’s work is situated in the field of contemporary international experimentation which no longer distinguishes between genres and makes formal solutions interconnected with each other. The work highlights a very updated interpretation of the relationship between form and concept, between two and three dimensions. Precisely due to the versatility of the compositional aspects that the work reveals, even in its extreme reduction, the jury identified the artist as the most interesting to be given the opportunity to have a solo show in the exhibition program of the Piran coastal Galleries in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

YOUNG AUTHOR PRIZE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The redemption prize for the best work by an author under the age of 35 is awarded by the Piran Coastal Galleries. The prize, which is in the form of a solo exhibition at the Herman Pe\u010dari\u010d Gallery in Piran, was awarded to BLA\u017dKA KRI\u017dAN<\/strong> (Slovenia) for the painting titled Currents.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Explanation<\/b>:
A visual experimentation attentive to the perceptual dimension and the dynamism of the image. The work reveals an attention to the optical and Gestalt research that characterized a period of particular relevance for the modernist art of the Balkan countries, in south-eastern Europe. The work oscillates between the dimension of art and design, considering what the surface can generate in terms of fluidity thanks to the monochromatic effects of the chosen material.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

GRAND PRIX<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grand Prix, the highest redemption prize, is also awarded by the Piran Coastal Galleries. Grand Prix of the LVII.\u00a0 International Painting Ex-tempore was awarded to MATIC MO\u0160KON <\/strong>(Slovenia) for the painting titled Only a Spectator. Alienation of The Individual From the Surroundings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Explanation:<\/strong>
The author, although very young, reveals a quality of psychological introspection that attracts our attention. As proposed in the title Only a Spectator.<\/em><\/strong> Alienation of The Individual From the Surroundings<\/em> the work reflects on the function of the gaze and on the act of observing. The painting shows a remarkable harmony in the few neutral colors and recalls an atmosphere, vaguely retro, even its formal composition. The last is very marked, with a deliberate focus on the human face. The author Matic Mo\u0161kon is obviously a promise of painting, a discipline that also for the new generations – as we noticed during the selection phases of Ex tempore 2022 – represents an ideal medium to question representation as the central theme of contemporary vision.<\/p>\n

CHILDREN\u2019S PRIZE<\/strong><\/p>\n

(aged up to 15 years)<\/p>\n

The prize in the form of painting material is awarded to the youngest awardees by the Piran Coastal Galleries.<\/p>\n
