At the end of the old year, we would like to wish all lovers of art, visitors of our exhibitions and events, a merry Christmas and a happy new year 2024!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The content-rich exhibition program of the Piran Coastal Galleries will begin in January 2024 at the Herman Pe\u010dari\u010d Gallery with the presentation of the first of the two winning projects of the <\/span>Open Doors<\/em> public call. <\/span>Hannes Zebedin <\/strong>(Linz, 1976), an Austrian academic sculptor who lives and creates in the Slovenian Karst, persuaded the expert committee with an engaged art project. The author reacts critically to the current pressing consequences of climate change, which are also drastically manifested in his living environment. The <\/span>Ceasefire<\/em> installation is related to the catastrophic fire that was devastating to the Karst region and to other parts of the Slovenian Littoral in the summer of 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The successful cooperation of the Piran Coastal Galleries with similar institutions from Slovenia and abroad that was established in the past, will continue in the second half of January 2024 with the Maribor Art Gallery UGM. In the premises of the Styrian gallery, the coastal artist <\/span>Lara Jeranko Marconi<\/strong> (Koper, 1984) will present herself. The painter and illustrator is from Koper, while her artistic expression was formed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. At a certain stage of her artistic development, she changed the brush for scissors and started creating papercuts. Her first solo exhibition in Maribor will also be dedicated to this special art genre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It will be followed by a guest appearance by Maribor artist <\/span>Borut Popenko<\/strong> (Maribor, 1969) in the Piran Coastal Galleries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, we add an important notice to the brief announcements of the two January exhibitions. Architect and sculptor <\/span>Marjetica Potr\u010d<\/strong> (Ljubljana, 1953), who held a big solo exhibition at the Piran Civic Gallery last year, has just received the highest state award of the Republic of Slovenia. The artist has received the Medal of Honour for her achievements in the fields of art, anthropology and ecology spanning over several decades, as well as for being included among the ten most important contemporary artists in the world, thus contributing to the promotion and recognition of Slovenia in the world. The prestigious award initiative was also actively supported by the Piran Coastal Galleries, which offer their sincere congratulations to the artist.<\/span><\/p>\n
