After a series of openings and inaugurations occurred during the month of September, October will be characterized by several events accompanying the current exhibitions, in addition to the international symposium of sculpture FORMA VIVA PORTORO\u017d 1961-2021<\/b>, which is in full swing and will end in the mid of the month.<\/p>\n

The celebratory symposium is presided by Mara Ambro\u017ei\u010d Verderber<\/b>, director of Piran Coastal Galleries (PCG) and dr. Majda Bo\u017eeglav Japelj<\/b>, curator of the event. The traditional carving of the stone sculptures executed by four renowned artists (Mario Lopez <\/b>from Portugal, Alberto Scodro <\/b>from Italy, Max M. Seibald <\/b>from Austria, and Jure Markota <\/b>from Slovenia), will end with a special program dedicated to art and nature. For the first time in the history of the event, the sculptures will be placed at the public spaces of the four coastal municipalities that actively took part in the organization of this event, which has been renowned and recognizable in the international art scene for six decades: Piran, Izola, Koper, and Ankaran. On Monday, the 11th <\/span>of October 2021, FORMA VIVA PORTORO\u017d <\/b>2021 will end with a press conference, held at 12:00 at Vinakoper<\/b>, in Koper. The results of the symposium will be presented by Mara Ambro\u017ei\u010d Verderber<\/b>, director of PCG and dr. Majda Bo\u017eeglav Japelj<\/b>, curator of PCG. The conference will also be characterized by the presentation of the finissage<\/i>, which will be curated by Parisian artist Vincent Ceraudo<\/b>, and by a tasting of the limited-edition wine marked with the commemorative label dedicated to Forma Viva. The press conference will take place in the presence of the artists (Max Seibald<\/b>, Alberto Scodro <\/b>and Jure Markota)<\/b>, the local collaborators, and the supporters of the event.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the 16<\/b>th <\/b><\/span>of October 2021, at 17:00<\/b>, the sculpture park of Forma Viva in Se\u010da will host the FINISSAGE<\/b>, the solemn conclusion of the event, which will consist of the presentation of the new artworks and the inauguration of a special project \u2013 the site-specific art installation of Vincent Ceraudo<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Among the events accompanying the symposium, the workshops organized by Ana Pape\u017e<\/b>, curator and educator of PCG, really stand out. In the gorgeous location formed by the natural environment of the sculpture park, children can play, take part in the dance workshops organized by the dancer and choreographer Tamara Peri\u0107<\/b>, and participate in the siporex workshops organized by the sculptor Miha Pe\u010dar. <\/b>The participants have the opportunity of learning about the history of Forma Viva while wandering through the park and getting to know the artworks realized during the past years. The children are also introduced to the figure of the sculptor, his tools of work, and the rules they have to follow in order to work in a safe environment. In addition to that, there will be a workshop focused on the creation of objects starting from waste paper and other scrap materials, organized in collaboration with Fulvia Grbac<\/b>, artist and educator, and will also take place in the open-air at the Forma Viva sculpture park of Portoro\u017e.<\/p>\n

The Meduza Gallery of Koper hosts the exhibition THE REACH OF THE GAZE<\/b>, showing the works of three artists of the littoral: Nina Mr\u0161nik<\/b>, Lara Jeranko Marconi <\/b>and Eda Birsa. <\/b>The exhibition is part of the third edition of SPEKULA<\/b>, the result of a collaboration between PCG and the Department of Educational Studies of Primorska University. On the 8th <\/span>of October, at 18:00, there will be a screening of the film of Radovan \u010cok<\/b>, titled GIBLJIVA SLIKA (MOVING IMAGE<\/b>). The projection will be followed by a conversation with the author, an acknowledged director of photography and cameraman of the littoral. Click here\u2026 <\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Nata\u0161a Segulin, <\/b>a native of Koper, is the protagonist of a photographic exhibition, on show at the Lo\u017ea Gallery of Koper until the 7th <\/span>of November. Her photographic series is titled LUMEN <\/b>and portrays the story of an abandoned building located in the centre of Koper, the old monastery of the Servite Order, which was the main site of the maternity department of the city until 1966. The visual narration though is not only the history of a building. The peculiarity of this building, which preserves intimate memories in it, consists of refined minimalist images that repeat rhythmically, creating archetypal forms and pronounced contrasts between light and shadow. This will be the focus of the debate with the author herself and dr. Andrej Medved, who will conduct the guided tour of the exhibition that will occur in the second half of October.
