ART FOR EARTH DAY is a new initiative organized by Piran Coastal Galleries, which occurs at the former police station of Portorož between the 20th and the 23rd of April. The event consists in a collective cleaning action aimed at the improvement of the work conditions of the employees of OGP, in addition to the reordering of the public spaces, which was necessary for the restoration of the roof.
The initiative is organized on the occasion of Earth Day, which celebrates this year its 51st anniversary continuing its fight for climate change and environmental issues.
Many important cultural associations of the municipality of Piran joined the celebration of the event. ART FOR EARTH DAY took advantage of the RE: ORG workshops organized this year by the Slovene Museums Society (SMS). The methodology of the intervention was outlined during a dedicated workshop, RE: ORG OGP, which took place in the Civic Gallery of Piran on the 16th of April. The acquired knowledge was of paramount importance in organizing an appropriate work environment, located at the former Portorož police station that the OGP manages for many years.
The intervention was conducted between the 20th and the 23rd of April, with a relevant participation of volunteers.
